Rev. Rosemary Wheeler Backer serves as Pastor at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Marina Drive, Holmes Beach.
Pastor Rosemary grew up in Maryland just outside of Washington DC and comes from
a family of 5 children. Her family lives around Annapolis, Maryland. She has one
son, Robert, who lives in Crofton, Maryland.
Concentrating on History and Political Science Pastor Rosemary graduated from
Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland. She continued her studies and
graduated from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
She just recently moved from Lynchburg, Virginia where she had been serving
Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
In addition to her ordained ministry, Pastor Rosemary has worked as a manager at
Verizon (formerly Bell Atlantic) and Bell Video Services. She has a passion for
serving the community and worked with the Board of the Johnson Health Center in
Lynchburg working and served as Chair of the Patient Care Committee. She has
made several mission trips to Biloxi, Mississippi to work with Bethel Lutheran
Church and their recovery efforts.
